All packed up

Ready to go! We got everything loaded in about an hour and a half, and we PACKED the 16′ truck to the brim…it was almost too small.

After much deliberation, I decided to let my ex keep Taffy (the cat on my banner). She is old and diabetic, so the move would be really rough on her. I’ll miss her like crazy, but I need to do what’s best for her. If at any point he has a problem keeping her (he may have to move to an apartment if/when he loses his job), I told him I would fly out and take her. But he is really psyched to have her around, and I’ll have my little Lexie with me.

I took my car to get an oil change on Friday, and had them check it over extra-well. They noticed that my front tires were bald, soooooo I went over to the tire place, and of course the tires were over $200 EACH to replace. But what would a major life change be without an unexpected expense?

I am going to miss my friends SO much. I cried all last week it seems, saying goodbye to everyone. That has truly been the hardest part of this move.

Three weeks

So, I sent out a letter to all my clients Friday telling them I’m leaving. I’ve already had quite a few calls for appointments, so hopefully I’ll be a busy bee and make lots of money before I go!

I reserved a moving truck today. It’s funny how certain things make my stomach all fluttery. This was one of them. Then they told me how much it was going to cost to rent the truck, and I almost threw up. It’s obscene, that’s all I’m gonna say.

My poor kitty Lexie is not handling things well. I think she’s stressing from all the boxes/packing going on. She sticks by me like glue, and she has runny stools. I feel so bad for her.

For a knitting blog, I don’t seem to get any knitting done. And Stitch-In is tomorrow. I think I’ll try to get back to my Frost Flowers and Leaves shawl…

That gave me the warm fuzzies

As I am getting ready to start cleaning and packing my stuff, I’m trying to decide which stuff gets hauled and which stuff gets pitched. I have a cat perch (looked like this, but with two perches stair-stepped and no tunnel) that I know I want to get rid of, but figured it would be more of a hassle to try and sell it than it’s worth. Finally it hit me: donate it to the local animal shelter! I just dropped it off, along with a cat bed and a bunch of toys. Now a whole bunch of kitties will get use out of them. I smiled the whole drive home.

Happy day!

What a great day…..I better enjoy it while it lasts.

I talked with the lawyer yesterday, and I am going to be able to get the settlement $$ I requested from B. Now I can comfortably move to AZ, which is a huge relief! Then last night I finished the blue Aeolian shawl:

Love love love it! Hope the recipient loves it too.

I got some hand made stitch markers from The Queen (on Ravelry) that are absolutely gorgeous:

She had asked me about some yarn I had (from a sweater I was making for B), but since I gave up on it, I sent her the 5 skeins I had left over, and she made me the stitch markers. I think I came out ahead in that trade! She says she may start selling them on etsy, so look her up on Ravelry if you want some for yourself!!

Today I went to the jewelry store to sell a few rings I didn’t want anymore (3 rings…got $90 for them!! Plus I’ll get more when she figures out how much my wedding band is worth.) and get my wedding ring altered. She is going to remove the wedding band and replace the small diamonds with peridots, plus size it up 1/2 a size. After all that, I’ll still be getting money back! Great deal. Plus when she saw me she exclaimed “I need to see you for a massage!”, so I got a massage appointment out of it, too. She’s coming Monday, and bringing my finished ring with. I am so happy, and can’t wait to see it.

And here are some funny pictures:

Doesn’t the lava on top look like a penis?

I am finishing the shawl tonight. Woohoo! Hopefully I’ll get pics up tomorrow or Thursday.

Here is a pic of Taffy looking all lazy….

P.S. I returned the Shrek Carnival game. It sucked eggs. I love the Shrek movies but in my opinion the games are terrible.

Thank goodness!

Taffy is OK, apparently her glucose level is out of whack…which is why she’s been eating so much and still losing weight, and walking funny. Her gait may have been caused by a stroke initially, but doc says her leg pulses are fine now, so once we tweak the insulin, her gait should go back to normal. Phew!!! She also has a mild ear infection, so I have to give her eardrops (cold eardrops nonetheless) every other day for a couple weeks. Poor baby.

Not that I will be able to handle losing her at any point, but right now would’ve been devastating for me. I’m so glad she’ll get better and be a part of “My New Adventure”.

Taffy wants me to tell you all she would appreciate lots of treats. And maybe a new comfy blanket or two to snuggle on. And treats, in case you missed that the first time.

Here she is waiting for me to get a clue and take her for a walk already:

Just hanging in there. B didn’t show up for our joint counseling session this morning–didn’t figure he would.

I have an appointment with a lawyer on Tuesday.

I have to take Taffy to the vet tomorrow. She’s doing pretty bad, her walking is getting worse. My friend L is going with me for support, which I will especially need if Taffy needs to be put to sleep and I have to call and tell B.

I’m taking my Klonopin (lovely drug) on a regular basis, but this second pill today is making me a bit loopy.

I’m starting a checklist of all the stuff I’m going to have to do or take care of between now and the divorce. Even then I’m sure I’ll forget shit, but at least I’m trying. Keeps me from crying all day, or plotting evil things against B. Mostly.

Please, everybody think good thoughts about my Taffy girl. Her not suffering is most important to me.
